Eating Gluten-Free in Orlando Disney Property

I had heard/read that Disney goes through great lengths to support gluten-free dining. I was skeptical until....

  • Pool side at the Disney Yacth Club - I was able to order a burger, with a gluten free bun!
  • At the Contemporary Hotel, California Grill:- they served gluten-free dinner rolls (tapioca flour) and had no problems adjusting the menu items.
  • MGM Disney Studios Theme Park - gluten-free chicken fingers and fries! The chicken fingers were actually pretty good. They have separate fryers for gluten-free only food!

Eating Gluten-Free in San Francisco - In N Out Burger

In-N-Out Burger
http://www.in-n-out.com/

I ordered my burger Protein Style, which means no bun, but wrapped in a large lettuce leaf.
I also had french fries. They are cut right there at the restaurant. Since there are no other fried items, the fries are gluten free!

Love this place!

Eating Gluten-Free in Framingbam, MA - Chinese

Eating Gluten-Free in Framingham, MA (20 miles west of Boston) - Uncle Cheungs

Cuisine: Chinese

Location: 266 Worcester Rd Framingham, MA 01702 (508) 872-9200
(Eastbound side of Route 9)

This is an authentic Chinese family run/operated restaurant. They do not have a special gluten-free menu, however the owner's brother has Celiac and she is very knowledgeable in gluten-free cooking. She can make just about anything but fried food in a gluten-free version.

At first we went in and ordered standard dishes: chicken with snow peas, chow foon (rice noodles), but now we pretty much go with the recommendation of the owner (Jane) and haven't gone wrong yet. If there is more than one gluten-free party there at the same time she'll even make an introduction.

Love this place. Great food, decent prices (average cost of a dish is $9), and good service. Unfortunately no website.

Eating Gluten-Free in Philadelphia* Mr. Ritts Bakery Mock Rye Bread

Eating Gluten-Free in Philadelphia* Mr. Ritts Bakery
Mock Rye Bread

http://www.mrritts.com/
*Is to note that I have not gone to this bakery in PA or NJ. I attended a Healthy Villi meeting in
Wellesley
, MA and Mr. Ritts Bakery was there selling all kinds of gluten-free products.

I purchased g-f cheese ravioli and g-f mock rye bread (haven't made the ravioli yet).

Now, I grew up in NJ, very close to NYC and I have particular tastes when it comes to items like rye bread, corned beef sandwiches and pickles!

For example:Katz's Deli -- best place in NYC for a corned beef or pastrami sandwich.
Pickle Guys - best place in NYC to get pickles. Sour pickles to be exact.

Anyway, last night for dinner I made myself a corned beef and pastrami sandwich on mock rye bread.
The meat from Stop and Shop - eh.
The pickle from Gus's - eh.
Being able to eat it all on g-f mock rye bread - - priceless and delish!

Eating Gluten-Free in Worcester, MA (40 miles west of Boston) - Boynton Family Restaurant

Website: http://www.boyntonrestaurant.com/
Address:
117 Highland Street
Worcester, MA 01609

Appetizer: Chicken with rice soup
garden salad with gluten-free Italian dressing

Dinner:
Gluten-free cheese pizza

Dessert:
Gluten-free triple chocolate mousse cake for dessert

Pros:
g-f salad dressing - YUMM.
This pizza is the best I've had so far, including Mozzarelli's and Risotteria in NYC. Crust was fabulous and the right cheese/sauce ratio.

Cons:
Very crowded on a Saturday night and they don't take reservations.

Please note that as of April 2008 this restaurant no longer offers the Wednesday night gluten-free specials. They only have gluten free pizza now.

Eating Gluten-Free in Boston - Jake's Dixie Roadhouse

Cuisine: BBQ
Website: <http://www.jakes-bbq.com/index.php>

Address: 220 Moody Street Waltham, MA 02453
(about 10 miles north west of Boston)

From the gluten-free menu we enjoyed:
Appetizer; The King's Wings (buffalo style)
Smoked half chicken
and 1/2 rack of ribs
Sides: mashed potatoes and corn on the cob

Clearly too much food, but it was really good! And they have Redbridge beer!
